Caroline Webb has been designing and carving inscriptions in stone and wood since graduating with a degree in Typography thirty years ago.

Caroline's work, her lettercarving, low-relief carving and printmaking, reflects her particular delight in quiet detail and an understanding and a love of letterforms. Her work is also influenced by poetry, plants and landscape. Caroline's approach to lettercarving is simple; she respects the written word and believes in the importance of lettering as communication. For many years Caroline collaborated with poet Ian Hamilton Finlay, contributing numerous works to exhibitions, private collections and to his garden, Stonypath.

Caroline is an elected member of the The Society of Designer Craftsmen, The Art Workers Guild, and Letter Exchange. She lives and works in rural Wiltshire.
