Caroline Webb was introduced to carved lettering as a child and learnt to carve whilst studying for a degree in typography at the University of Reading. For 25 years she has been designing and carving fine inscriptions in stone, slate and in her favourite material, wood. For many years she collaborated with poet Ian Hamilton Finlay, contributing works to international exhibitions, private collections and to his garden, Stonypath. Caroline works almost entirely to commission from her workshop and studio at her home in Wiltshire where she lives with her husband, a member of The Academy of St Martin in the Fields, and her young family. Caroline is an elected member of The Art Workers Guild, Memorials by Artists and Letter Exchange.
